Between feeding, settling, changing nappies and trying to get five minutes to yourself, eating can somehow become the thing you remember at 3 pm.

Postpartum nutrition does not need to mean cooking proper meals from scratch every day. Sometimes it is a sandwich, yoghurt and fruit, leftovers, toast with something substantial on top, or whatever you can eat with one hand.

The goal is not perfection. It is making sure you are getting enough in to support recovery, energy and, if you are breastfeeding, the extra demands on your body too. 💚

Milk supply worries can take up so much headspace, especially in those early weeks when feeding still feels new and unpredictable. 🤍

One of the biggest things I remind mums is that supply cannot be judged by one thing alone. How full your breasts feel, whether you leak, how much you pump or how often your baby wants to feed can all be misleading when looked at on their own.

Instead, we look at the full picture: how effectively baby is feeding, whether you can hear swallowing, wet nappies and baby’s growth. 👶

Sometimes there is a supply issue that needs support. Other times, what looks like low supply is actually normal feeding behaviour or an issue with milk removal.

Getting clear on what is actually happening can help you feel much more confident about feeding. ✨🌿
